Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of total thyroidectomy and subtotal thyroidectomy in the treatment of thyroid cancer(TC). Methods 74 patients with TC cancer were selected and divided into two groups according to the alternate grouping method.37 patients in group a received subtotal thyroidectomy, and 37 patients in group B received total thyroidectomy. The serum calcium and parathyroid hormone(PTH)levels before and 1 day after operation were compared between the two groups, and the incidence of postoperative complications was counted. Results The incision length of group A was shorter than that of group B,the amount of intraoperative blood loss was less than that of group B,and the operation and hospitalization time were shorter than those of group B,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of serum calcium and PTH in two groups were lower than those before operation, but group A was higher than group B(P<0.05).Compared with group A,the total incidence of postoperative complications in group B was higher, and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05). Conclusion Compared with total thyroidectomy, subtotal thyroidectomy in the treatment of TC patients can shorten the recovery time, improve the serum calcium and PTH levels, without increasing the incidence of postoperative complications.
