Abstract:Objective To define the allergen profile and compare the efficacy of skin prick test(SPT) and serum specific IgE(sIgE) detection in allergic patients in Foshan. Methods From January 2023 to June 2024,121 allergic rhinitis patients from a Foshan hospital were enrolled.Data were collected via questionnaires.SPT and serum sIgE tests were performed. Results The top three allergens by SPT positivity were house dust mite(49.59%),German cockroach(25.62%),and poplar pollen(19.0%).By sIgE,they were house dust mite(42.98%),dust mite(20.66%),and cat dander(8.26%).For five common allergens, agreement between methods was good(71.90%~97.52%),but SPT had higher positivity rates(P<0.05).Total positivity did not differ by age, sex,or residence. However, among urban patients, those living ≥4 floors had higher positivity than those on 1-3 floors(96.00% vs 88.00%,P<0.05). Conclusion The main allergens in Foshan are house dust mite,German cockroach, and local tree pollens.
