Abstract:Objective To investigate the regulatory effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with interventional therapy on tumor metabolic activity in elderly patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer and to evaluate its safety. Methods A total of 100 elderly patients diagnosed with advanced non-small cell lung cancer and admitted to the Second Department of Oncology of Meishan Second People's Hospital from January 2023 to April 2025 were enrolled as research subjects.Among them,80 cases underwent bronchial artery embolization and 20 cases received ablation therapy. All patients were treated with interventional therapy combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors.Clinical efficacy, quality of life, survival rates, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The 6-month and 1-year survival rates in the bronchial artery embolization group were 90.00% and 80.00%,respectively,while those in the ablation group were both 100.00%.Tumor metabolic activity-related parameters in both groups decreased significantly after treatment compared with baseline(P<0.05).Adverse reactions in the entire cohort were predominantly mild(grade 1~2).Hematological toxicity occurred in 21 cases(21.00%),including 4 cases of grade 3 severe hematological toxicity;gastrointestinal reactions in 23 cases(23.00%);thyroid dysfunction in 20 cases(20.00%);liver dysfunction in 17 cases(17.00%);fatigue in 12 cases(12.00%);and rash in 8 cases(8.00%).No grade 4~5 severe or fatal adverse reactions were observed throughout the study. Conclusion The combination of interventional therapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors can significantly improve clinical efficacy, prolong survival, effectively suppress tumor metabolic activity, and exhibit manageable adverse reactions in elderly patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer, demonstrating high clinical promotion value.
