Effects and Prognostic Factors of Minimally Invasive Plate Fixation in the Treatment of Ulnar Fractures |

Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to analyze the effects and prognostic factors of minimally invasive plate fixation in the treatment of ulnar fractures.Methods 70 patients with ulnar fractures were enrolled in the study.According to the surgical method,they were divided into the observation group(treated by minimally invasive plate fixation,n=40)and control group(treated by open reduction and plate internal fixation,n=30).The perioperative parameters and complications were compared.The wrist function was evaluated with the Gartland-Werly score,and according to the Gartland-Werly score,patients in the observation group were divided into the good prognosis group(0~8 points)and the poor prognosis group(≥ 9 points),and the influencing factors of prognosis were analyzed.Results The surgical time,wound healing time,length of hospital stay,length of incision and the incidence of complications in the observation group were shorter,smaller or lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of wrist function in the observation group at 3 months and 6 months after surgery were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).There were significant differences in age,postoperative time to start exercising,with other fractures on the same side and the rate of malunion between the good prognosis and the poor prognosis group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that age and postoperative exercise time were independent risk factors for prognosis(P<0.05).Conclusion The effect of minimally invasive plate fixation is better than that of open reduction and internal fixation in the treatment of ulnar fractures.The former is conducive to the recovery of wrist function.Age and postoperative exercise time are independent risk factors for the prognosis,and targeted intervention measures should be taken after surgery.
