Abstract：Objective To explore the clinical effect of self-made Huotan Kaiqiao prescription combined with acupuncture in the treatment of cerebral infarction. Methods A total of 84 patients with cerebral infarction who were admitted to the hospital were enrolled.They were divided into study group and control group by random number table method,42 cases in each group.The control group was given routine treatment,while study group was given self-made Huotan Kaiqiao prescription combined with acupuncture on basis of control group.The scores for TCM syndrome,the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale（NIHSS）,Fugl-Meyer Assessment,Montreal Cognitive Assessment（MoCA）and Activity of Daily Living（ADL）,levels of serum nitric oxide（NO）,plasma endothelin（ET-1）and von Willebrand factor（vWF）,and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment,improvement of TCM syndrome,NIHSS,and MoCA scores in study group was better than that in control group（P<0.05）,but no significant differences were found between the two groups in FMA and ADL scores（P>0.05）.After treatment,level of serum NO was significantly increased in both groups,which was better in study group than control group（P<0.05）,while levels of serum ET-1 and vWF were significantly decreased,which were better in study group than control group（P<0.05）.The incidence of adverse reactions in study group was lower than that in control group（7.14% vs 28.57%）（P<0.05）. Conclusion The clinical effect of self-made Huotan Kaiqiao prescription combined with acupuncture is significant in the treatment of cerebral infarction,which can significantly improve neurological deficits,motor function,cognitive function,activities of daily living,and vascular endothelial function,with good safety.
