Abstract:Objective To study and observe the effects of azithromycin(AZM)combined with human gamma globulin(HGG)in the treatment of pertussis in children. Methods Totally 78 children patients with pertussis admitted to our hospital from January 2017 to December 2019 were randomly divided into single group(n=39,treated with AZM)and combined group(n=39,treated with AZM combined with HGG).After 5 d of treatment, differences in disappearance time of spastic cough symptoms, disappearance time of crow-like inspiratory roar and hospital stay were compared between the two groups. The lung function indexes [time to peak ratio(TPTEF/TE),peak volume ratio(VPEF/VE)] were compared before treatment and after 5d of treatment. The occurrence of drug side effects were analyzed in the two groups during the course of treatment. Results The disappearance time of spastic cough, disappearance time of crow-like inspiratory roar and hospital stay in combined group were significantly shorter than those in single group(P<0.05).After 5 d of treatment, the levels of TPTEF/TE and VPEF/VE in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment, and the levels in combined group were significantly higher than those in single group at the same time point(P<0.05).During the course of treatment, there were no significant differences in the drug side effects between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion AZM combined with HGG has a significant effect in treating pertussis in children, and it can promote the disappearance of symptoms, and does not significantly increase the incidence rates of drug side effects. Thus it is suitable for popularization and application.
