The Role and Research Progress of Integrin in Osteoarthritis

Abstract:Osteoarthritis,also known as osteoarthropathy,is caused by fibrosis of articular cartilage by a variety of factors.Chaps,ulcers and prolapse lead to degenerative diseases with joint pain as the main symptom.The etiology is not clear,and its occurrence is related to age,obesity,inflammation,trauma and genetic factors.Integrins are large,transmembrane heterodimer proteins that are necessary for the growth,differentiation,and survival of animal cells.In order to enable cells to respond to the dynamic extracellular environment,integrins have evolved a highly sensitive receptor activation mechanism,mainly regulated by tertiary and quaternary structural changes.Many studies have confirmed that chondrocytes express integrin α5β1,αVβ3,αVβ5,α6β1,α1β1,α2β1,α10β1 and α3β1.Some integrin ligands may be biomarkers for the progression of OA.This paper reviews the progress of the research of integrins and their extracellular ligands in osteoarthritis,especially the functional roles of osteoarthritis cartilage.To clarify the role of integrins and ligands in osteoarthritis cartilage and provide theoretical basis for further treatment of arthritis in the future.
